Hello everyone,
We hope this finds you all well and enjoying everything that Haydays has to offer.
As you know, Registration Day is nearly upon us! The forms will be with you very soon. If you are able to print them at home and bring them along completed, that would be absolutely fantastic and will make things run more smoothly.
📋 Registration Days
• First Registration Day:
🗓️ Tuesday 30th September
⏰ 9:15am – 1:00pm
This timing will help morning members get to their classes with minimal disruption.
• Second Registration Day:
🗓️ Tuesday 7th October
⏰ 9:15am – 1:00pm
⚠️ Please bear with us as the lobby area will be busy. Your hard-working committee will be doing everything possible to keep things moving, and your patience and understanding will be much appreciated.
🏛 Why We Must Finish by 1:00pm – Every Tuesday
• The Supper Room is used for both the café and, on certain dates, for registration.
• The room must be fully cleared by 1:00pm every Tuesday, not just on Registration Days.
• At 1:00pm, our caretakers have the big task of putting away around 80 chairs and 15 tables before the Reading Group begins.
• To make this possible, the café will close promptly at 1:00pm each week.
• If you haven’t finished your drink or soup, please feel free to take it with you to your class and enjoy it there.
📝 What to Bring on Registration Day
• ✅ Your completed registration form with your chosen classes
• 💷 Payment options:
– Cash
– Cheque (please make sure it’s dated and signed)
– Card
⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDERS
• ALL MEMBERS MUST PAY FOR CLASSES
• Membership is FREE for anyone aged 75 or over
• Class fees and details will be on your form
• Class numbers are limited – if your chosen class is full, we will do our best to offer you an alternative
🙋 Volunteers – We Need You!
• After lunch, WE ALL HEAD STRAIGHT TO CLASSES, which leaves very little time for café clear-up.
• We are hugely grateful to those who already help, but we are still desperately short of volunteers.
• Clearing away after soup at lunchtime — with all the washing up and putting everything away — is a really big task.
• Even sparing 10 minutes would be wonderful. Ways you can help:
– Washing up
– Wiping down tables
– Drying and putting away dishes
– Taking tea towels home to wash
💡 Did you know?
Every Tuesday morning, a lot of work happens behind the scenes before members even arrive:
• Margo, Norma, and Jackie spend around 45 minutes:
– Preparing the soup ready to heat
– Cutting and buttering the bread
– Setting out the baking and drinks
– Adding fruit and flowers
– Setting up the café space
• Heather and Liz come in early to warm the soup and get it into the café urns, and now prepare soup in cups to help eliminate queuing and speed things up for members.
• Mark, from the committee, has been faithfully helping with all the washing up each Tuesday, tackling pots and dishes.
• Sonja arrives early every week to place registration forms and badge boxes in each class.
Your committee is working tremendously hard every single Tuesday — as well as holding committee meetings and organising future events — to keep Haydays running smoothly and to make things easier for everyone.
But the truth is: WE REALLY DO NEED YOUR HELP, now more than ever.
💛 Thank You
We want to finish by saying a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who already helps, whether it’s setting up, clearing away, or simply offering a hand where it’s needed. Every contribution is valued, and we deeply appreciate the kindness, patience, and support that make Haydays such a special community.
With warmest wishes,
Margo Lindsay
